Today's Workflow
I'm working on pictures of this bee-you-tiful girl and her sis this evening and decided to take a quick pause to write down what's going on. I am constantly trying new things with my editing, trying to find a workflow that works for me. I'm happy with today's effort, so I decided I needed to document it so next time I can remember!
Started by opening the picture in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and doing some adjustments. I warmed the color balance up a bit, pushed the blacks and the brightness and did a light sharpen. Then I opened it up in photoshop and adjusted the levels a bit, did a curves adjustment to get even a bit more warmth and a little less red in the skin tones and then ran Pioneer Woman's lovely and ethereal action with the gaussian blur turned off (that's a tip from Jessica Kettle's blog. Thanks!). I changed the opacity of the lovely and ethereal layer to 30%. I merged the layers and then ran TRA Botwell Magic Glasses action and changed the opacity to 30%. Merged again and ran Momaziggy's USM action for a little more sharpness. Finally on a few where I wanted the eyes to really pop, I ran Momaziggy's sparkly eye pop and used a low opacity brush on the masked areas to get the effect I want. I know some of this may be mumbo-jumbo to people out there, but hopefully there are a few that can understand me!
Best thing about today's edit? All of the actions I used were totally free. Yippee. Here are the links in case you need to look them up yourself:
Pioneer Woman
Totally Rad Actions
Momaziggy
Now to hurry and finish up these edits, so I can share the pictures with her mom tomorrow when we meet for lunch!

That Tiana is getting too old for my liking. The colors look great in this one--I need some tips on skin tones. Can't ever get it like I like it. That's it. . . . . I just need to go get full-blown Photoshop. Then we can speak the same language. :) Tell Latassa 'hi' from me.
Thanks for links and for sharing your workflow. Your processing always looks so fantastic! I FINALLY got a fast computer and the full photoshop, and can now delve into the exciting world of actions! I've been coveting for a long time :) Now I just need to figure out what my "style" is. Hard.
